Strategy Works co-founder and director Bob de Wit developed the Vision Map, a tool to compile a personal company vision and strategy into a single page. The Vision Map can be used to envision both personal and group ambitions. The process consist of two steps: vision mapping and action mapping.
1.Vision Map
The Vision Map encourages users to articulate and share individual views on
the past/present and middle and long term future. This approach stimulates
users to exchange experiences, expectations and ambitions based on their
personal involvement. It manifests both positive and negative perceptions and
addresses both cognitive and emotional elements. By jointly filling out this
model in your organization, a joint appreciation of what to leverage and what
to avoid emerges. Consequently, the shared aspirations give direction to your
organization’s future.
2.Action Map
In the Action Map, ideas are generated to prevent the negative Vision Map
elements and to strengthen or reach the positive ones. This concretizes the
vision and clarifies the feasibility of the vision and therefore provides
direction to realize the ambitions. The Action Map results in building blocks
for a strategic agenda.
